Helsinki Museums We Love

We traveled to Finland at the inaugural Finnair flight from Seattle to Helsinki on June 1. Now we’re fortunate to spend a few energetic, glad, days touring Helsinki and the lakeside Lahti place.

Head here to see snaps and some a laugh details from our flight over and a “get-to-understand-Helsinki” taking walks tour. We’ve moved along to the Lahti location now, but have some Helsinki museum spots to percentage.

Helsinki’s Amos Rex artwork museum occupies the web site of a former bus station and has a popular public rectangular up pinnacle and a sunken gallery underneath.

To come up with an idea of the sort of artwork the curators are interesting the city with, here’s an photograph of a cacophony of reclaimed chairs flowing over the roof of the constructing that’s one part of a site-precise piece titled The Nest, by Japanese contemporary artist Tadashi Kawamata.

Finnish Museum of Natural History

Our museum crew loves natural history museums, so we made sure to go to the Finnish Museum of Natural History, which has five everlasting exhibitions, such as Finnish Nature, World Nature, and The Story of the Bones.

We had been overjoyed to identify a unprecedented -headed calf on show as well as skeletons and specimens galore.

More Finland touring the following day…
