The Airport Search journey group traveled in and round London with Gatwick Airport’s mascot, Gary Gatwick, final week.
Our mission: find out how smooth it's miles to use Gatwick Airport as a base whilst traveling the vicinity.
Every prevent become an academic adventure and Gary Gatwick was a perfect host and guide.
But one ride at the underground turned into a lesson about the kindness and professionalism of the individuals who paintings for Transport for London.
Because Gary Gatwick in some way were given left behind at the Farringdon station.
It took approximately 10 stops to realise Gary Gatwick became lacking.
We had been, of path, horrified that he’d been left in the back of.
And we weren’t confident we’d be reunited.
He was touring in our small blue backpack and, without a doubt, our enjoy with public delivery in different cities led us to anticipate that the backpack might be taken with the aid of some other passenger, thrown out, or, worse, dealt with as a suspicious, unattended package deal and blown up!
But none of that happened.
While useful station attendants at any other station made calls to the Farringdon station on our behalf to inquire about our misplaced object, our little backpack was discovered and became in to the misplaced property office on the station.
This customer support manager diagnosed Gary Gatwick, took proper care of him, and logged his visit into the records.
When we in the end made our way lower back to the Farringdon station and requested to be directed to the supervisor’s workplace, all and sundry on duty knew simply who we have been.
“Oh, you’re the people searching out the undergo! Go that manner.”
We took a bit of ribbing, but once we signed for our misplaced belongings we have been lower back on our way.
The London Underground, like most different public transit networks, is a sprawling gadget. And, clutching Gary Gatwick close so we didn’t lose him again, we concept we’d just melt lower back into the sea of passengers.
But whilst we got back to the station platform we encountered Kevin.
He’s the Transport for London employee who had observed Gary Gatwick on the platform and he’s the only who made positive Gary became safe.
Kevin regarded simply glad to see us reunited with Gary Gatwick and we’ve declared him our hero!
