Gary Gatwick’s Underground Adventure

The Airport Search adventure team traveled in and around London with Gatwick Airport’s mascot, Gary Gatwick, final week.

Our assignment: discover how clean it's far to use Gatwick Airport as a base whilst traveling the location.

We traveled via educate and underground to visit sights in relevant London, the Brighton seashore, and the historic West Sussex cities of Arundel, and Amberly

Every prevent turned into an educational journey and Gary Gatwick became a super host and manual.

But one experience on the underground turned into a lesson approximately the kindness and professionalism of the people who paintings for Transport for London.

Because Gary Gatwick one way or the other got left behind at the Farringdon station.

It took about 10 stops to comprehend Gary Gatwick became lacking.

We have been, of direction, horrified that he’d been left in the back of.

And we weren’t assured we’d be reunited.

He become visiting in our small blue backpack and, truely, our experience with public transport in different cities led us to assume that the backpack would be taken through some other passenger, thrown out, or, worse, handled as a suspicious, unattended package and blown up!

But none of that passed off.

While useful station attendants at some other station made calls to the Farringdon station on our behalf to inquire approximately our lost item, our little backpack changed into found and became in to the lost assets workplace at the station.

This customer service manager recognized Gary Gatwick, took exact care of him, and logged his go to into the records.

When we in the end made our way again to the Farringdon station and asked to be directed to the manager’s office, each person on obligation knew simply who we have been.

“Oh, you’re the people looking for the bear! Go that way.”

We took a bit of ribbing, however once we signed for our lost assets we were lower back on our way.

The London Underground, like most other public transit networks, is a sprawling machine. And, clutching Gary Gatwick close so we didn’t lose him again, we thought we’d simply soften again into the ocean of passengers.

But whilst we were given back to the station platform we encountered Kevin.

He’s the Transport for London worker who had determined Gary Gatwick on the platform and he’s the only who made positive Gary changed into safe.

Kevin regarded in reality glad to see us reunited with Gary Gatwick and we’ve declared him our hero!
