IND Airport welcomes NCAA lovers with art, track, and extra

College basketball enthusiasts arriving at Indianapolis International Airport (IND) this week will find some unique artwork, music, meals, and reveals, courtesy of the town’s trademark Hoosier Hospitality.

In addition to a custom-wrapped INDY car in the airport’s Civic Place, there are digital shows of cascading basketballs and the #LoveIndy statue for image ops.

Eat, Drink and Shop

Pop-up retail stores in the pre-protection Civic Plaza and Concourse B are selling NCAA garb and equipment, as are different retail stores at some point of the terminal. And, for that special memento, Scoreboard, in Concourse A, is promoting an Indiana University basketball made with Swarovski Crystal.

Hungry lovers can stop in for the well-known St. Elmo shrimp cocktail at Harry and Izzy’s or at Shapiro’s for local delicatessen eats. And the brand new Sun King Tap Room is serving its “Hoops There It Is” forte beer – wheat ale with peach.

Art and song too

In partnership with the Arts Council of Indianapolis, 10 temporary murals featured work with the aid of nearby artists on vinyl are on show in Concourses A and B.

THe birthday party doesn’t prevent there. There will also be stay track at IND on Fridays and Saturdays through April 3. And, thans to the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, an exhibition of pieces from the National Art Museum of Sport (in Concourses A and B).
